Cucumbers

My cucumbers have died. they started to die on the window sill indoors so popped them out side. I think it just isn't warm enough for certain veg yet as I think im having the same problem with my butternut squash. Will have to go down to the garden now im back from work and have a look at whats happened since i've been at work. 72 hours is not a long time in the grand ole scheme of things but actually thats a long time to leave your veg unattended. How am I going to keep them regularly watered in the height of summer? I have heard about getting plastic pop bottles and watering from those then the plants get a drip type drink. might have to look at that idea.
